July 13, 2002: Work continues at an amazing pace. The drywall work was finished on a rainy Saturday, and the church building should be complete in only a few weeks!

June 9, 2002: The first weekend of framing was a big success. The walls of the church are now erect! The next big work day is scheduled for Saturday June 15.

May 25, 2002 Update

Monday, May 13th was a great day!  We had a M.O.V.E.* at Sayre luncheon at the Harbert Center downtown Birmingham attended by over one hundred interested people and it was a tremendous success.  James Spann introduced the Pastor of Middle Oak Church, Del Reid, who shared with the attendees the wonderful work God is doing in the community.  Wayne Myrick went over the building specifications and laid out the construction schedule for the multi-purpose facility.  A large percentage of the money and materials needed to complete the new building has been raised and construction work is now underway! The old Middle Oak Church tent was taken down on Saturday, May 25.

We are excited that the effort is now involving groups from several Birmingham area churches.  Churches and their members actively involved include:  Hunter Street Baptist, Dawson Memorial Baptist, Canterbury United Methodist, Pleasant Ridge Baptist, and Briarwood Presbyterian.  Other interested church organizations are encouraged to join in.  Enough praise cannot be lauded upon the Harbert Management Corporation and its employee funded HERO Foundation. They have taken a leadership role in this project and have been generous with their time, expertise, and money.

We are almost to our goal but there is still the need for donations of both materials and cash in order for the project to be completed on schedule.  Any company, church, or individual that is interested in supporting this endeavor can be sure that 100% of the money goes to the building as there is zero administrative costs.  Make checks payable to MOVE at Sayre; your donation is completely tax deductible.
